October 4, 2012 — Alberta pledges $58 million to help people who suffered uninsurable storm damage this summer.

Alberta will dip into the treasury to help people who suffered uninsurable losses due to severe storms over the summer.

The province says it will spend up to $58 million to help cover damage in six regions of the province, including: Edmonton, the Capital Region, Calgary, Brooks, north-central Alberta and areas around the communities of Youngstown and Consort.

Most of the money will go to cover flood damage repairs to property and roads from storms in June and July.

The province says registration centres will be set up in each of the six regions.
