Parts of southern Ontario saw record breaking temperatures this week as daytime highs climbed into the double digits.
While it gave some residents a brief taste of spring, it left the team at Blue Mountain struggling to keep runs open for the World Cup Snowboardcross scheduled this weekend.
"After some amazing work by the entire team, the FIS World Cup Snowboardcross course saw its first action with training runs Thursday afternoon," says Collin Matanowitsch with Blue Mountain Resort. "The region was blanketed with snow on Thursday morning and Blue is now back up to 34 runs."
Matanowitsch adds that the course is in great shape and ready for the event over the next couple of days.
Top athletes will race down a course full of jumps and berms, battling it out for world wide ranking.
This is the second consecutive year that Blue Mountain Resort has hosted the event.
