Professional and recreational cross-country skiers are gearing up for the 38th annual Great Labrador Loppet.
About 300 people are set to take part in the event, which invites participants to ski on groomed 10 km, 25 km and 50 km trails.
From young to old, professional to beginner, there will be something for everyone at the Loppet.
If skiing isn't your thing, the trek will be followed by a banquet and celebration.
While Atlantic Canada has had its share of stormy weather lately, conditions will be improving throughout the day Friday.
According to Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network, residents across the region can look forward to a storm-free weekend -- which spells good news for Loppeteers.
