It looks like Victoria and Metro Vancouver will dodge a bullet, but the rest of southern BC is dealing with a powerful winter storm.
According to Environment Canada, the system will approach the south coast on Tuesday and will track across the northern tip of Vancouver Island by the evening hours.
Wind and rainfall warnings have been issued, with the heaviest amounts expected near Hope.
Up to 70 mm is forecast by Wednesday morning.
Heavy snow is also expected, which prompted travel advisories along the Coquihalla Highway.
Conditions are ripe for an avalanche to occur, which has a Weather Network crew eager to capture one on camera.
The Canadian Avalanche Centre is warning outdoor enthusiasts however, of the dangers that can be expected in the North Shore backcountry.
Avalanche ratings are already listed as "high" in some places, possibly moving to extreme in the wake of blizzard-like conditions.
