A low pressure system moved throughout the Gulf States on Friday - bringing a large thunderstorm in its wake.

Thousands were left without power as intense rain, lightening and hail fell across the region, prompting officials to issue thunderstorm and tornado watches.

Over in New Orleans, event organizers were forced to postpone or cancel several Mardi Gras parades - but the weekend hasn't been a complete wash.

The Krewe of Endymion parade dazzled a huge crowd on Saturday evening, despite the drizzling rain and gusty winds.

There are plenty of events scheduled between now and Tuesday, and the weather is expected to cooperate for the remainder of the festival with mild temperatures in the short-term forecast.
