November 29, 2012 — A snowstorm swept Moscow on Thursday, causing disruptions to air and road traffic.

A traffic jam spanning at least 30 km formed Thursday afternoon near the capital, according to local media.

More than 50 cm of snow fell in a 24 hour time period in the city -- half the usual amount seen in November.

According to the municipality of Moscow, this is the largest November snow storm the region has seen in 50 years.
