Thundersnow, hail and temperatures around the freezing mark were enough to cancel dozens of flights at Dallas/Fort Worth International Tuesday.
At least 40 departures were cancelled by the early morning hours and more delays are expected throughout the day with de-icing procedures underway.
The messy mix prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for much of North Texas.
Officials urged motorists to use caution on slick bridges and overpasses. Over 60 accidents were reported across the Dallas- Fort Worth area alone.
Some roads were closed because of icy conditions and several schools and businesses delayed their openings Tuesday morning.
