Weather History: Ontario messy storm

Staff writers
February 23, 2013 — Between February 22 and 23, 2003, a messy winter storm moved across southern and eastern Ontario.

The province was coated in a mix of snow, ice pellets, and freezing drizzle.

At Toronto Pearson Airport 12.5 cm of snow and almost 6 mm of rain were reported.

Ice accretion was also heavy, especially in the Niagara and Kingston regions.

In Ottawa, the precipitation fell mostly as snow -- 32 cm of it. That's more than 70 per cent of the monthly average, in a mere 24 hours.
