The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed after a landslide hit the Northwest Brook area on Saturday.
RCMP say traffic is being rerouted east of Clarenville as the Department of Transportation works to clear the mud, rock and debris.
On Sunday, officials said they would have to blast a rock wall and evaluate the safety before being able to open the highway completely.
The blasting is required to ensure the stability of the rock wall.
No injuries have been reported.
