  1. What is PointCast?

    PointCast technology delivers hyper local forecasts and weather information with precision and accuracy beyond compare. By providing your POSTAL code, ZIP code or by activating Follow me we can deliver a hyper local PointCast as close as 1km/0.6miles using your latitude and longitude. More PointCast information.

  3. Why does my follow me city have the pin?

    The PointCast pin indicates the most local forecast is being provided. By enabling Follow me, we receive your latitude and longitude information and automatically deliver PointCast, a hyper local forecast and weather information as close as 1km/0.6miles. More PointCast information.

  5. How do I get to the main menu?

    To access the main menu in the Super app press the Blackberry key and the menu will display vertically on the left side of the screen.

  7. How has the main menu changed in the Super app?

    In addition to accessing the all the usual weather information, the menu now allows you to add / delete cities without having to go to the Option page. As well, you can turn on/off the Homescreen icon and Follow me function.

  9. How do I add a city?

    From the main menu, click "Add City". From the Add City screen, you can either search for a PointCast location by entering a Postal Code or a US ZIP code or by entering a city location by name. You can also click "Add locations near you" to see a list of cities closest to you.

    Postal codes can be entered with or without spaces and are case sensitive. For example, you can enter K1A 0A9 or K1A0A9 or K1a 0a9 or k1a0A9, all combinations will give you Ottawa, ON, Canada K1A 0A9. ZIP codes must not include spaces.

  11. I don't see an icon on my Homescreen only a swirl, what does that mean?

    The icon on the Homescreen displays the sky conditions for a location. Sky conditions come either from a person monitoring the conditions or from a machine. Not all weather stations offer sky conditions. The Follow Me function looks for the closest location to you which may not offer an icon.

  13. How does the Follow me function work?

    The first time the WeatherEye Super app is launched, the Follow me function will find the closest city to your current location. The current conditions icon for the nearest location will display on the Homescreen.

    As you move around, the Follow me will continue to update your location and display the current conditions on the Homescreen. When the app is launched, your current location will be the first city to display.

    If you wish to turn off the Follow me, you can do so from the main menu by unchecking the Follow me box. Please note, if you have not added any other cities, you will see only the swirl icon on the Homescreen. Once you have added a city, that city's current conditions icon will display on the Homescreen.

    To turn on/off displaying the current conditions icon on the Homescreen simply go to the city you want to change. On the main menu, uncheck "show on Homescreen." This will change the Homescreen icon for that location only. To turn on/off all Homescreen icon display, go to the Options page from the main menu and choose Homescreen icon.

  15. Can I disable the Follow me function?

    Yes, Follow me comes enabled when the application is first downloaded. It can be disabled by clicking Follow me on the main menu.

  17. With the Follow me can I still add cities?

    Yes, you can still add cities with the Follow me function enabled. From the main menu, click "Add City".   19. Will the Follow me function drain my battery?

    No, the Follow me function should not drain your battery as it only checks for your location and displays a small amount of information on the Homescreen.

  21. Will the Homescreen icon and / or the Follow me function add to my roaming charges when I travel abroad?

    Yes, like any application that updates automatically, the Homescreen icon and the Follow me will add to your roaming charges. Before you go abroad, disable the Homescreen icon by going into the Options screen from the main menu and turning it icon off. Also disable the Follow me function by unchecking the box on the main menu.

  23. If I turn off the Follow me function will I still see a city on my Homescreen?

    Yes, if you turn off the Follow me function, you will still see a city if you have added any. The first city you added will be the city you see on the Homescreen.

  1. Will WeatherEye work on my BlackBerry mobile device?

    WeatherEye works on devices running BB version 4.3 and above. If you are using an OS below 4.3 please download the application OTA via http://blackberry.theweathernetwork.com

  3. How do I check my device’s OS/version?
    • Click on the ‘Options’ icon
    • Select ‘About’
    • Check the Smartphone version (for eg. v.4.3 etc)

  5. I downloaded WeatherEye and everytime I attempt to start the app, it opens the download page.

    New BlackBerry devices store applications in the ‘downloads’ folder. Look for the ‘downloads’ folder (showing the yellow arrow) on your home deck and you'll find WeatherEye stored in it.

  7. How do I move the application from the ‘downloads’ folder to the home screen?

    To move application to home screen:
    1) Select WeatherEYE icon (in ‘downloads’ folder)
    2) Click on the BlackBerry Menu button (the paw)
    3) Click 'Move to folder'
    4) Select Home

  9. How do I add a city?

    All settings can be found on the WeatherEye’s (application) ‘Options’ page. Just open the application, select ‘options’ and click ‘Add City’. The ‘City Search’ box will pop up. Enter the city name in the search box.

    Note: City search does not support Zip/Postal codes, abbreviated city names such as MTL, NYC, YYZ, Province, State, Country added to the city name OR punctuations (for eg. enter St John instead of St. John)

  11. How do I change from Celsius or Fahrenheit and Kms or Mph?

    All settings can be found on the WeatherEye’s (application) ‘Options’ page. Simply open the application and select ‘option’. You can change unit by selecting the C or F buttons or Metrics (kms) or Imperial (mph) buttons.

  13. Can I access the mobile website from the application to check Flight Tracker or the Golf/Ski reports?

    Yes, just click on the application menu and select the ‘www’ tab to access the mobile website for more information. If you need to return to the application, just use the 'back' button on your device.

  15. Does the application support cities outside of Canada?

    Yes, the application covers over 6000 cities. In case your city is not available, please send us an email with the city name and country and we'll make every attempt to add your city to the list.

  17. I've added multiple cities to my options page. How do I access (toggle) between the cities?

    To toggle between cities, click on the city box (next to the Logo) and select any city from the drop-down list. Application will show data for new city selected.

  19. How do I get my home-screen icon to change to show weather?

    Go to "Options" in the application and ensure that the check box for "display home-screen weather icon" has been checked.

  21. How do I change the frequency of updates on the icon on my home-screen?

    Go to "Options" in the application and click on the default update setting "every 15 minutes". It can be changed to 30 mins, 1 hr, 2 hr, or 4 hr.

  23. How do I pan/zoom on the Radar Map?

    Short cut keys ‘1’ and ‘3’ are set to Zoom-out/ Zoom-in; Keys 5,7,8 & 9 can be used for panning. Click your trackball/touchpad for ‘Maps’ Menu.

  25. How do I change the city on the ‘Maps’ page?

    Short cut key ‘4’ is set to change ‘Map’ city. To view more options double click the trackball/touchpad for ‘Map’ menu to pop up.

  27. How do I go back to ‘Current’ Condition Page from ‘Map’ Page?

    Click on the BlackBerry menu (button icon) button and application menu will pop up at the bottom of the page. Select the current condition tab.

  29. My battery runs down quicker with the application open.

    Open applications will tend to use more battery power. Close the application if you are not using it. Click the end button (red button) to close application.

  31. Hourly forecast shows no data available for US cities

    The WeatherEye provides ‘Hourly data' for Canadian cities only. We are working on extending our coverage.

  33. The ‘Short Term’ forecast for my city always shows ‘Data not available’?

    The WeatherEye does not provide ‘Short Term’ forecast for International cities. We are working on extending our coverage.

  37. I can't view the application in landscape mode (Storm).

    Currently, the application is only available in portrait mode.

    You may need to uninstall the application and install/ download the application OTA from the link below:

    How to check my OS version
