1999: Toronto Blizzard

January 3, 2013 — Between January 2nd and 4th, 1999, a series of storms hit southern Ontario affecting millions of Canadians.

The blizzard dumped close to 45 cm of snow on Toronto.

Mayor Mel Lastman received help from over 4000 military personnel, as well as crews from Prince Edward Island to help clear the streets and ensure public safety.

For the next two weeks the city would continue to be hit storm after storm.

The city saw 118.4 cm -- the snowiest two week period since 1846.
