August 4, 2012 — The weekend is looking very hot and humid in Quebec and it may end with severe thunderstorms Sunday.

Warning likely to extend into Sunday.
Warning likely to extend into Sunday.

A low pressure system moving into Quebec will usher warm andgradually humid air over western and central parts of the province Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to exceed 30 C south of the province and Humidex could exceed 40. These conditions pose a risk to young children and people with chronic illness.

Conditions may become more comfortable on Sunday as the cold front sweeps through the region. A risk of thunderstorms is possible across western and central Quebec throughout the day.

Strong southerly winds could cause major surf in some coastal communities of eastern Quebec. A storm surge watch has been issued by Environment Canada, as well as Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Residents are advised to monitor future forecasts for watches and warnings.
