It's known as the greatest outdoor show on earth -- but in 1999, the Calgary Stampede may have also been one of the soggiest.

Forty millimetres of rain over three days and temperatures barely above the freezing mark made the wild weather a big part of the show.

On July 15, 1999, there was even a trace of snow reported.

Although not common in July, it's not unheard of -- Calgary has recorded snow in every month of the year.
