
Grey skies and rain dominated British Columbia's weather forecasts for the month of June, and the below-seasonal daytime highs - mixed with a lack of sunshine - left some residents wondering when summer would make an appearance.
Now, it appears as though the cool and unsettled weather is coming to an end.
A building ridge of high pressure will usher in an extended period of warm temperatures across the province's south coast and interior regions later this week.
"Right now it looks as though there will be at least a week or two of drier and warmer weather in BC," says Gina Ressler, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
Daytime highs may climb to 40 degrees in South Okanagan and Fraser Canyon.
The temperature is expected to peak in the mid-to-high thirties in the southwest interior by early next week.
