February 4, 2013 — Long line ups at car washes in Calgary usually mean one thing: The mercury is rising.

Its been perfect car washing weather in Calgary lately, but will it last?

Many of the people we caught up with seem to beoptimistic about an early spring.

And why wouldn't they be? It's been incredibly mild.

But February in southern Alberta is known for its wild temperature swings.

In Calgary, the record low for the month happened on February 4, 1893, when the temperature fell all the way to -45C.

On February 27, 1992, the temperature rose all the way to 22.6C.

Either way, it definitely keeps Calgarians on their toes.
