November 8, 2012 — For the second time in less than two weeks, a powerful earthquake has struck off the BC coast.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake rattled BC on Wednesday.

Officials say the quake struck off northern Vancouver Island just after 6 pm local time and was centred over 130 km southwest of Port Alice.

The tremor occurred deep in the Pacific Ocean and no injuries or damage have been reported.

"There were only a handful of reports of people who actually felt it, but I think residents are still shaken up from the powerful earthquake that struck the west coast less than two weeks ago," says Gina Ressler, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.

On October 27, a magnitude 7.7 quake was felt in Haida Gwaii. That earthquake also caused no major damage or injuries in the area.
