Horse rescued from Arizona sandbar

March 17, 2010 — A stranded horse has been rescued by helicopter from a sandbar in Arizona.

A horse stranded on a sandbar in Arizona was rescued by helicopter on Tuesday.

The horse, named Colorado, and his owner were caught in a fast-moving current lastFruday in the state's Gilda River. The owner was rescued, but workers couldn't reach the horse right away due to swift currents.

The horse was tranquilized, blindfolded and placed in a harness, then lifted to safety by helicopter. He was quickly reunited with his owner and has no injuries.
