September 1, 2012 — August, 2012 has been declared on of the hottest months on record for in Quebec.

According to Environment Canada, this past August was one of the hottest months on record for the province of Quebec.

In Montreal, for example, the average temperature reached 22.2C -- well above the average monthly temperature of 19.7C. The all-time record is 22.6C, set back in August 1947.

The month is also notable for its lack of precipitation. Only 47.4 mm fell in Montreal last month, a little more than half of the 90.7 mm that usually falls in August.

In 2011, more than 220 mm fell on the city in August, setting a new record.
