Pools and beaches were packed across Australia this weekend as temperatures soared into the upper 30s and low 40s.
The extremely hot temperatures in places like Sydney has set it on course for the hottest season in decades.
Forecasters say the long range outlook for the summer will not only surpass the heat last year, but could make it one of the hottest on record.
Thankfully for those looking to escape the heat at a beach, the thick algae bloom which turned waters blood red last week had dissipated.
Fire officials however, are on alert as the intense heat is already raising the danger of bush fires.
Hot temperatures combined with dry and gusty conditions has had fire crews battling a large blaze in Beachmere, north of Brisbane, since Saturday.
