On Monday, a tornado was reported touching down in at least two places on the island of Grand Bahama.
The storm uprooted several trees near the tourist area of Freeport. The twister also flipped cars and damaged buildings near the site. A port crane toppled over in the wake of the storm killing three people and injuring at least four.
Forecasters at the Bahamas Meteorology Department say hurricanes are common in the Bahamas but tornadoes are relatively rare. They only occur about once every three years in the island chain.
