Two weather systems are colliding, creating large waves along the eastern edges of Newfoundland.

According to Environment Canada, large waves are expected to approach the northeast and east coasts Thursday afternoon, affecting communities from Fogo Island to Cape Race.

Residents are being warned to watch out for the large swells.

The waves are a result of high pressure over Labrador combined with a low pressure system over the North Atlantic.
