The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were hoping to play in their new stadium this month, but construction delays have pushed the opening date back to September 21.
"We had some very tough weather conditions the last couple of weeks with heavy rains and high winds," says Rick Graumann, vice-president of Stuart Olson Dominion Construction. "We are in the process of evaluating the schedule at this stage."
He says strong winds can impact critical lifts that are used in construction and can essentially shut the whole operation down.
"I'm still very optimistic that we're going to make up our days. We're doing everything we can to accelerate and mitigate some of those issues with weather."
Graumann says that once weather conditions improve across the city, additional man power and longer hours will be used to make up time on the project.
