Choosing the perfect pumpkin

Not all pumpkins are created equal.

If you're baking a pie or tart, choose a pie pumpkin. It isn't as stringy as other varieties, and it's loaded with flavour.

For a Jack-o'-lantern, look for an orange variety pumpkin, like wolf - which has a thicker skin - or jumping jack, which is tall and slender.

If you'd prefer to paint your Jack-o'-lantern, choose a cannon ball. This variety is smoother than most, making it the perfect canvas for your Hallowe'en creations.
