July 25, 2012 — ** Updated at 2pm ET ** Some residents were forced to leave their homes on Tuesday after a brush fire broke out.

About 50 homes in central Ontario's cottage country have been given the green light to go home.

Residents were evacuated on Tuesday due to a brush fire in the area of Milford Bay.

The Muskoka Lakes and Bracebridge Fire Department say the area is safe, but crews will remain on scene to ensure there are no flare-ups.

Muskoka Lakes Mayor Alice Murphy says there's no information yet on the cause of the brush fire.

The fire burned about six hectares before it was contained by firefighters and water bombers.
