
According to the UN, heavy rains displaced more than 19,000 people in northern and central parts of the country on Thursday, bringing the total number of evacuated residents up to 170,000.
In some places, victims are said to be running out of food. Others have become sick after eating food that has come into contact with contaminated water.
Mozambique's rainy season typically lasts between December and April.
So far, this season's floods have claimed 55 lives.
