A forest fire burning near the community of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland -- and it forced some residents to leave their homes Friday.

The fire, which broke out near the Canadian Forces base in the Labrador town earlier that day, sent plumes of smoke into the air.

Evacuation orders have since been lifted. On Sunday, it was reported that winds were helping direct the fire away from residential areas.

Weather conditions in the area have been scorching hot, with the temperature in Happy Valley-Goose Bay hovering around 32C Friday afternoon.

No injuries have been reported -- and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
