Hail pounds northwest China
Precipitation is needed in the area
Soybean-sized hailstones pounded some mountainous areas in Toli County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Thursday noon, alleviating the areas' drought to certain degree.
The hailstorm lasted only 15 minutes, and visited only mountainous areas that had been going through a drought.
"The hailstones hit three parts of the region, approximately an area of a six-kilometer radius," said Hu Guanghui, secretary of a local CPC committee in Toli County.
The hailstorm didn't cause any damage, and instead has alleviated the drought to some extent.
