August 10, 2012 — A section of the Great Wall of China has collapsed following days of heavy rain.

Authorities have cleared debris from the Dajingmen section of the wall and are repairing the damaged area, which measures about 36 metres.

Experts say that years of erosion, combined with the recent rain, may have contributed to the collapse.

The Great Wall is one of China's most notable tourist attractions, receiving about 4 million visitors per year.
