"Unsettled weather will continue into Friday as a low pressure system will stall over western Saskatchewan and linger into the start of the weekend," says Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network.
The heaviest band of precipitation is expected to affect cities like Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
In addition to the heavy rain, gusty winds bringing cooler area will also develop later Friday, making for a rather miserable couple of days.
There is also the potential for some severe thunderstorms in parts of southwestern Manitoba Friday.
"There is no question we are entering the meat of severe weather season across the Prairies, and a big event next week is certainly possible," adds Scott.
Recent heavy rain in Fort McMurray, Alberta has resulted in severe flooding and prompted mandatory evacuations for about 400 people there.
A local state of emergency remains in effect for the area.
