Hot and Humid temps soar across Ottawa and Quebec
Some rain is in the forecast for Ottawa and Quebec, may provide brief relief from all the humidity.
Humidex values could reach the 40 mark Saturday afternoon and forecasters are warning residents to take necessary precautions.
Environment Canada has issued a heat and humidity warning for several regions of Quebec, including Metro Montreal, Richelieu Valley, Lanaudiere, Drummondville, and Quebec. Officials say southern and central Quebec will be under the influence of a warm and humid airmass during the next few days.
Similarly across Ottawa, temperatures are forecast to reach the mid thirties Saturday afternoon. Conditions will be quite hot and sticky as humidex values are expected to reach or exceed 40.
The public is advised to stay in air conditioned settings when possible or to seek shady areas. Residents are also advised to drink plenty of water and to limit all physical outdoor activity.
The hot and humid conditions will persist through Wednesday, after which less humid and somewhat cooler temperatures are expected.
