On Wednesday afternoon, after a brief but powerful thunderstorm tore through Norfolk County, police received a call from a Windham ginseng farm.
"Information was received that a male had been struck by lightning while out in the field working with eight migrant workers," said Ed Sanchuk with the Norfolk County O.P.P. "Upon arrival on scene, it was determined that the male sustained life threatening injuries and he apparently had no vital signs."
After being rushed to Tillsonburg Memorial Hospital, doctors and nurses were able to revive the male.
On Thursday however, he was taken to London in critical condition where police say the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the London University Hospital at about 5:30 pm.
He has been identified as Ezequiel Cervantes-Nava, 48, from Mexico.
