Between March 9-10, 1992, most of Ontario and several regions in Quebec were battered by a severe winter storm.

Many communities saw gale force winds and heavy snowfall.

Sudbury received a record 39 cm of snow on the tenth.

The two-day accumulations in the city measured nearly half a metre. In southern Ontario, the precipitation fell as mainly freezing rain -- coating cars, trees and roads with heavy ice.
