After strengthening into a major Category 3 hurricane on Monday, Miriam weakened throughout the day Tuesday.
The hurricane is now a Category 1 storm, and poses no immediate threat to land. Forecasters say that swells generated by the storm however, are expected to affect the south and west coasts of the southern Baja Peninsula over the next couple of days.
No coastal watches or warnings are in effect.
In the open Atlantic, Tropical Storm Nadine weakened somewhat early Monday while meandering far from land. It had sustained winds of about 50 mph (85 kph).
