After the most significant snowfall in the Toronto area so far this winter, temperatures are on the rise once again. Daytime highs in southern Ontario will rise above 5 degrees for several places Tuesday.

For areas further north and east however, more snow is in the forecast. Snow began early Tuesday morning as the warm front lifts north.

"Since the precipitation will be in the form snow, many areas will receive between 5-10 cm through Wednesday morning," says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.

"Then as the low slides out of the Ottawa Valley Tuesday night, there is a risk of freezing rain for a few hours as the low tracks towards the Maritimes."

Motorists are urged to exercise caution on the roads with the risk for prolonged periods of icy conditions.
