When you flip on the news and see images of a tsunami in Japan or an earthquake in Haiti, it's hard to imagine that same sight in a Canadian city.

Ottawa, for example, is not exactly earthquake prone. Nevertheless, the city's Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR) is ready to jump into action.

If disaster ever strikes, it's their job to make sure the area is safe, then go in after survivors.

Team members have the skills of policemen, firefighters and paramedics, and train regularly for a wide range of disasters.
