Pet hotels for the holidays
December 22, 2012 — The holidays are the season of giving -- the time of year when it is OK to spoil our loved ones just a little, and that goes for pooches not just people.
D Pet Hotels is designed to provide the optimum environment for dogs to play and exercise throughout the day
Americans spent about $50 billion dollars last year on their pets. While the majority goes toward food and doctors bills, $5 billion dollars is related to the holiday season.
Luxury pet hotels are a pet must-have gift this year, and some facilities offer services for pets to tone up and pamper away the holiday stress.
Kerry Brown co-owns the newly-opened New York branch of D Pet Hotels -- which has quickly become one of the city's new doggie hot spots.
"The holidays at D Pet Hotels is crazy. I mean, yes, we see a ton of people buying gifts for their dog or their friend's dog, but we also see a ton of travel," said Brown. "So we have dogs who are coming here anywhere between one night and three weeks, who are coming to board with us and enjoy our space and all that."
