Planets align in morning skies

Andrew Fazekas, astronomer
June 15, 2012 — After disappearing from our skies for nearly a week, Venus makes its triumphant return with neighbouring planet Jupiter in the morning skies.

Jupiter and Venus are now back together in our night sky
Jupiter and Venus are now back together in our night sky

Both planets were aligned with Earth and the Sun this past month and now are finally emerging from its glare as bright early morning objects above the eastern horizon.
Skywatchers facing east at local dawn on June 16th through 18th will witness the crescent Moon pairing up with Jupiter and then Venus before sinking below the horizon on June 20th.
