Environment Canada issued a special weather statement with the potential for freezing drizzle in parts of southern Ontario Friday.
The Windsor region can also expect to get about 5 cm of snow as the northeast edge of the intense U.S. storm pushes across the border.
"The snow should reach the Greater Toronto Area late Friday afternoon, with between 2-5 cm likely through Saturday," says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. "We're not expecting significant accumulations, but the timing of this messy mix could definitely impact the evening commute."
Untreated surfaces were icy and slippery during the Friday evening commute, leading to some traffic delays.
"By Saturday, temperatures will rise above seasonal, helping this fresh layer of snow to melt pretty quickly," adds Dillon.
