A driver in Ottawa had his vehicle swallowed up by a sinkhole on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened on the eastbound Jeanne d’Arc exit of 174. Photos show that only the back bumper of the vehicle was visible after the car fell through the road.

Witnesses say the driver climbed out of the vehicle on his own. He suffered minor injuries.

Police closed the eastbound 174 between Montreal Road and Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard.  The City of Ottawa was called to the scene to repair the road.
