April 30, 2012 — Those hoping to ride their bike to work on Monday were forced to think again. Another blast of winter hit Newfoundland.
It may have been the last day of April, but people in Newfoundland continued to deal with wintery conditions on Monday.
Snow developed ahead of the system early Monday morning and continued to spread to the western Avalon, Clarenville and Bonavista areas.
"It's a winter wonderland here in St.John's, NL," tweeted one Weather Network follower.
Slippery and snow covered roads were reported, causing delays for the morning commute.
Although it was be a brief blast of winter, some places saw 10 cm by the time all was said and done.
"The snow tapered off through the day on Monday and rising temperatures helped melt the snow," said Dayna Vettese, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
Motorists were urged to exercise caution on the roads and adjust their driving habits if necessary.
