A series of low pressure systems started bringing heavy rain to parts of northwestern Quebec on Monday.
The rain is picking up in southern Quebec and will continue to intensify over the central and eastern regions through Wednesday.
A rainfall warning has been issued with up to 70 mm possible by the time all is said and done. A wind warning is also in place for the Richelieu Valley with gusts over 90 km/h expected through Wednesday afternoon.
Environment Canada warns that the strong winds combined with a period of large tidal range could trigger breaking sea conditions along the coast as well.
Residents are urged to remain a safe distance from the water.
