February 27, 2012 — Plows were working overtime in Thunder Bay, Ontario Sunday and Monday after a significant helping of snow.

It was a snowy end to the weekend and start to the weekend for anyone living in northern Ontario. 

Now, in many cases, the clean up in underway. 

"About 12 cm of snow piled up in Thunder Bay on Sunday, and Wawa got 17 cm into Monday," says Gina Ressler, a meteorologist at The Weather Network. "Snow continued coming down in the Nickel Belt and Muskoka regions through the afternoon."

In Thunder Bay, city snowplows were working overtime to get the roads cleared Sunday night. Police were asking drivers not to venture out until the plows were finished. 

Thunder Bay Transit pulled its buses off the roads as the snow was piling up on Sunday. Many school buses were cancelled Monday morning, as well. 

The system will affect Quebec and the Maritimes next as it continues to track east.
