The flood washed out roads and bridges in Sicamous

Rivers in the Kootenay region and Fraser Valley broke their banks after rapid snow melt and heavy rain.
The worst flooding happened on the weekend of June 23rd, when flood waters forced hundreds of residents from their homes. Hundreds more were on evacuation alert.
The flood washed out roads and bridges in Sicamous, where heavy rain triggered a flash flood after rivers rose 15 cm in just one hour.
Raging water displaced about 350 people in the town.
A state of emergency was declared in the community's Two Mile subdivision, after flood waters washed away homes and vehicles.
The flood turned deadly when a 72-year-old man near Nelson was swept away while standing on a bridge.
Flooding wasn't the only issue.
There were mud slides as well, including one that shut down the Trans-Canada Highway in both directions from Perry River to Revelstoke.
