Top 10 videos of the week: February 24

February 24, 2012 — It's time for our weekly recap of the best videos from the past seven days. Take a look at the top ten videos that made the cut.

We get a lot of footage each week here at The Weather Network, so we decided to share our favourites with you. Here are the weather videos that had people talking in Canada and around the world this week.

  • #10 -- Andhra Pradesh, India: The lives of hundreds of endangered Olive Ridley turtles along the coast of India's southern state are threatened so officials have created hatcheries to help protect them and then release them back into the sea.
  • #9 -- Lake Louise, AB: This viewer video from Lake Louise shows Mark having some fun in the fresh powder and loving every minute of it. How cute.
  • #8 -- Sydney, NS: Dawn sent in this viewer video that shows the snow that made its way through Nova Scotia over the weekend. How picturesque.
  • #7 -- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Thousands of Carnival revellers take in the celebrations in Rio de Janeiro as colourful costumes and marching bands take part in the annual festivities.
  • #6 -- Umeaa, Sweden: Swedish police say they found a man barely alive after surviving in this car for two months on a deserted snow-covered road. He hadn't eaten since December 19th.
  • #5 -- Belgrade, Serbia: Rapid thaw has brought chaos to the River Danube in the Serbian capital Belgrade, where ice damaged boats, pontoons and floating restaurants.
  • #4 -- Near Eagle Plans, YT: Our own Stormhunter Mark Robinson has been making his way across the country in search of winter and found it this week near Eagle Plains Yukon.
  • #3 -- Montreal, QC: Cold water and floating ice chunks are this mans play ground. He decided to go for a swim. That must be cold even with that wet suit on.
  • #2 -- Xinjiang, China: Snow and cold temperatures in China's northeast and west have stranded drivers and brought air travel to a standstill.
  • #1 -- Barrie, ON: Heavy snow and very slippery roads in Barrie, Ontario gave these drivers a reminder of what it's like to drive in winter conditions.

Those are videos ten through one for this week. Don't forget to tune in to The Weather Network on TV every Friday morning for our weekly roundup of the top weather videos of the week. The Weather Network's 'Top 10 Weather Videos' segment is created by B.J. Stewart.
