On Monday, a tornado swept in from the Adriatic Sea and narrowly missed Venice, Italy.
The tornado made its way over the Lido, a long strip of land where the Venice Film Festival is held, before continuing through several islands in the lagoon surrounding Venice.
On the island of Sant'Erasmo, over a dozen homes had their roofs ripped off and many trees were uprooted.
On the island of Certosa, an estimated 1,000 trees were knocked over and a historic monastery was badly damaged.
Tornadoes are rare in Italy. The last twister to touchdown near Venice was in July 2010.
