It wasn't long after Leslie made landfall in Newfoundland that forecasters were tracking the next tropical storm of the Atlantic season.

Nadine strengthened into a tropical storm on Wednesday and continues to remain just below hurricane strength.

Officials say the storm is moving away from North America and into an area of the Atlantic where conditions will be less favourable for strengthening.

The storm currently poses no threat to land and no coastal watches or warnings have been issued.

Meanwhile, in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Kristy formed Wednesday as well.

It too is expected to track out to sea and will begin to weaken through the day on Friday.
