July 9, 2012 — After strengthening into a Category 2 hurricane, Daniel continues to weaken as it moves westward.

Daniel and Emilia both swirl in the Pacific
Daniel, which is centred more than 1,200 km west of the southern tip of Baja California, continues to weaken as it tracks westward.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in place and forecasters say it should become a tropical storm late Monday.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Emilia continues to strengthen and could become a major hurricane in the next couple of days.
Emilia remains far out to sea however, and poses no current threat to land.
