September 28, 2012 — Tropical storm Norman is poised to make landfall in Mexico, prompting a tropical storm warning.

Tropical storm Norman is moving quickly, prompting the Government of Mexico to issue tropical storm warnings for the western tip of mainland Mexico between La Cruz and Huatabampo.

"The storm is moving towards the Gulf of California, and it will be affecting communities along the shoreline in the days to come," says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.

"Expect to see flood warnings and watches issued over the weekend."

A large part of Texas is bracing for the storm, with heavy downpours expected on Saturday.

Parts of west Texas have already seen rain -- leading to multiple traffic snarls.

Officials are reminding motorists to avoid low-lying areas and flood prone regions throughout the weekend.
