Milder east coast has summer potential

There's plenty of potential for a warm, relatively sunny vacation in Atlantic Canada, if you time it right.

July 2, 2012 — Certainly not as warm as Ontario, but a little less rainy than Quebec, Atlantic Canada has plenty of potential as a vacation spot.

Certainly not as warm as Ontario, but a little less rainy than Quebec, Atlantic Canada has plenty of potential as a vacation spot.

Whether its the rocky shores of Newfoundland and Labrador, the red-sand beaches of Prince Edward Island, the tranquil Acadian forests of New Brunswick or the pleasures of a cottage on Nova Scotias South Shore, you can be assured of balmy weather.

All four Atlantic Provinces boast average highs mostly in the low-to-mid 20s in July and August, dropping to the high teens when the September cooldown hits, with a few rare exceptions.

Not as warm as Ontario and Quebec, but definitely good enough for anyone.

Newfoundland and Labrador is slightly cooler on average through the summer months, but its average rainfall is not much higher than the Maritimes.

Dont be put off by the rain, though. Depending on where you go, July and August are way more likely to be drier than September, so keep that in mind when picking a destination.

And even if July, the hottest month, happens to be the wettest where you are, thats no trouble. Just shift your plans over to August. Across the board, its rarely more than one degree cooler than July.
