Quebec may not have the warmest July and August, but with average highs in the mid 20s those months, it's certainly hot enough for anyone to enjoy. September is noticeably chillier, with few average highs of 20 or above, and average lows in the single digits almost across the board.
But when you're comparing it to southern Ontario, Quebec has noticeably more rainfall, dueling Atlantic Canada for the distinction of having the most average rainfall during the summer months.
The range between cities can be quite staggering. The average rain that could fall on Quebec City in is almost 40 mm higher than the average July total for Montreal.
And when it comes to picking your vacation date, choosing a month with the least chance of rainfall may be difficult.
With some exceptions -- such as Sherbrooke and Quebec City, there's only a few millimetres' difference in average rainfall totals when you move from month to month.
Montreal's average rainfall, for example, hovers around the 91-93 mm mark for the summer months. Gatineau is at about the same level, while Saguenay ranges from 133 mm in July to 124 in August.
